Institutional Programming

RIDOC believes that the process of reentry preparation begins at sentencing; therefore, RIDOC's Classification Unit conducts a validated risk/needs assessment with sentenced offenders. These assessments then guide the offender's individualized program plan (i.e., rehabilitative treatment plan) while incarcerated. Available programming includes, but is not limited to: educational services, health services, parenting, domestic violence and batterer's intervention programming, substance use disorder treatment, sex offender treatment, cognitive restructuring, trauma therapy, mentoring, and spiritual/religious programming. Many programs, particularly spiritual and religious, are provided at no cost to the Department by community volunteers.
