The mission of the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) is to contribute to public safety by maintaining a balanced correctional system of institutional and community programs that provide a range of custodial options, supervision and rehabilitative services in order to facilitate successful offender reentry into the community upon release.  

Training Academy

The Rhode Island Department of Corrections Training Academy is responsible for training Correctional Officer candidates through a rigorous twelve-week academy where they will be taught de-escalation skills, cultural diversity, mental health awareness, suicide prevention and inmate supervision. Click here to learn more about the Training Academy.  Applications are currently being accepted:  APPLY NOW
